Dunton Hot Springs is a restored ghost town set in an extraordinary alpine valley, across the mountain from Telluride. It retains its original character with a little European flair. As you approach Dunton you cross a gated bridge which spans the West Fork of the Dolores River and there is the town laid out before you.
Between our wonderfully comfortable cabins, the hot springs and a seemingly endless array of activities, Dunton provides the perfect setting for an intimate wedding, family gathering or memorable corporate event.
All of Dunton's cabins are authentic hand-hewn log buildings, restored by craftsmen who specialize in traditional building techniques. No two are alike. Each cabin bears a distinct individual character and history. All are very beautifully appointed and offer views of the majestic scenery that surrounds them. All the cabins, save one, are clustered around the historic Saloon and Dance Hall and are only a few steps from our spa treatment rooms, yoga studio and the waterfall.
Some of the most pristine yet accessible terrain in the world is around us. Sweeping stands of Aspen, majestic 14,000 ft. peaks, tumbling rivers, silent lakes and flower strewn meadows.
For board meetings Dunton is ideal if you do not choose to balance business with too many social activities. You can do heli-skiing one day and a deep desert hike the next, rafting a swollen river, or exploring our own vineyard the next. Since our owner has an extensive business background, he has made sure we are able to provide all necessary business services while retaining the character and atmosphere of Dunton Hot Springs.
Explore the majestic landscape on horseback or mountain bike, on foot or snowshoes. Fly fish the West Dolores or raft the San Juan. Discover Anasazi ruins deep in the neighboring canyons or visit our vineyard. Great National Parks surround us: Mesa Verde, Canyonlands and Arches or the magnificent scenery of the vast Navajo reservations: Monument Valley, Canyon de Chelly or Antelope Canyon. Right around our vineyard (Sutcliffe Vineyards) lies, Canyon of The Ancients and Valley of the Gods. Or simply stay put and soak in our wonderful hot springs or talk "shop" while sitting by the fire with a great glass of Red.
Our Chefs source seasonal ingredients from local farms: organic peaches, pears, plums, local grass-fed lamb, and we pick wild Porcini mushrooms and Chanterelles in late summer. All our beef is grass fed on an employee's ranch in Cortez. Never be afraid to ask the Chef for something special.
You will love our cellar filled with a remarkable selection of wines from Sutcliffe Vineyards, classic Bordeaux, Bourgogne's and new world wines.
